Tripwire Award Results!

Thanks to all who voted for Accent UK in the recent Tripewire Magazine Awards, we were runners-up in their UK Independent/Small Press category! A very commendable result and a nice swansong of sorts.

Accent UK nominated in Tripwire Awards!

Exciting news, our Accent UK comics collective have been nominated in top pop culture Tripwire Magazine’s annual awards, in the best UK small press/independent comic publisher category! 

It’s quite an honour to be included and a great way to mark the 20 year journey that Dave West and I have shared after Accent UK was formed with Barry Renshaw way back in 2002. 

There's lots of other fab nominees across the world of comics and pop culture, so if you’ve ever enjoyed our work, please consider voting, thank you very much :)

Tripwire Comic Awards!

Happy New Year all! Hope all is going well so far? I'm pleased to say that Accent UK Comics has had a delightful start to 2020 with our nomination in the Tripwire Comic Awards!

That's right, Accent UK have been nominated in the Best UK Small Press / Independent Comics category among many other respected publishers.

Some stiff competition there certainly but it's nice to be recognised among your peers which is a nice reward in itself among the many difficulties in being a small creative voice in an often  overlooked medium, so thanks to the Tripwire judging panel for considering and including us.

If you have enjoyed any of our titles and creative endeavours please consider casting your vote in this and the other award categories which are a nice 'pat on the back' for all involved.

The awards are due to be announced at the Portsmouth Comic-Con early May where Dave West will be in attendance - wonder if he's renting a tux?

The Harvey Awards

A nice invite has popped up in my inbox, inviting me to vote on one of the (American) comic industry's oldest and most prestigious comic awards, The Harveys! While it's not a nomination for any of Accent UK's titles it is indeed a small recognition that we are seen as part of the industry, for this year at least, so that's something.

Harvey Kurtzman, of whom the awards are named, was a comics legend behind the likes of the MAD humour magazine, Two-Fisted Tales, Frontline Combat, a series of hard hitting war comics, Playboy's Little Annie Fanny and much, much more. A more recognisable name in the states perhaps but influential nevertheless and a hard working trailblazer in his field.

So there we go, an unexpected but nice gesture probably triggered by our visit stateside earlier this year so nice that someone paid attention, now for some difficult voting decisions to make!
